BluePrint CISO and Client, Beebe Healthcare, Featured in HITRUST 2017 Panel on Medical Device Security

BluePrint's Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer, Mark Ferrari, and Beebe Healthcare's CIO, Michael Maksymow, will present as part of a panel titled, "Managing Medical Device Risk with the HITRUST CSF."

It's a timely topic as Gartner is predicting that, by 2020, 25 percent of all enterprise breaches will involve IoT, including medical devices. Yet, medical device manufacturers haven't focused much on security, which means it lies at the feet of healthcare organizations and their biomedical engineering and IT departments.

In this panel session, we will share alongside our client, Beebe Healthcare, our recommendations for assessing IoMT security risk as well as strategies for protecting each organization from the USB/internet-connected devices that are use inside and outside the healthcare channels of care.

We hope to explore how medical device security is becoming a risky area and the importance of proper government, as well as the potential and scale of the security risk posed and how to safeguard from internal and external breaches.

In particular, we want to highlight those medical devices that many assume are not vulnerable like infusion pumps, pacemakers, stress test machines and any monitoring devices used within the healthcare organization or remotely from the patients' homes.

Lastly, medical device security requires a new level of collaboration between the biomedical engineering teams and the IT teams, as well as top-line support from leadership for which we will provide examples and guidance.

Please join us at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas for our session slated for Tuesday, May 9, 3:15-4:15 pm CT.
